Conduct of Volunteers

Your primary mission is to ensure the safety of yourself, the staff, and competitors. We do this by staying vigilant for firearm safety violations. All stages are physically demanding, require loaded weapons, and may be confusing for the very tired competitors. It's everyone's jobs to ensure safety violations do not happen, and if they do, we address the situation immediately. It's better to bruise someone's ego with a disqualification (DQ), than to plug a bleeding hole.

This event runs entirely on a time schedule, and the clock is the all-powerful LAW. Your secondary job is to be the keeper of the timer. You will need to Bluetooth pair your phone to our portable speaker. Please come with an Interval Timer App that has programmable exercise time and a programable rest time. Test this at home before arriving. If you get the right Interval Timer App, you can also play music and the app at the same time. A external phone charger batter bank will be helpful.

Your 3rd job is to ensure all stations on your range are performed as described in each station brief. The athletes have received all the exercise in advance, so you do not need to brief each one. Athletes are paired up who will be scoring each other. Your duty is to spot check athlete performances to ensure bad reps are not being counted, and also to settle “no-count” disputes.

After the WOD is completed for the day, please help us tear down your range. Gather up all stage gear. Leave heavy equipment on the range in a neat pile to be picked up by a range truck. Same with steel targets, hangers, and T post.

Volunteer Gear List:

Depending on your assigned duty station/task, these items will make your day more enjoyable:

  • Hearing protection for EVERYONE!

  • Camp chair for sitting during downtime.

  • Pop-up canopy for shade/weather protection.

  • Sunscreen and bug juice.

  • First Aid kit for your station.

  • A personal cooler with ice at your station. We do provide cold drinks at the pavilion.

  • Snacks. We provide BBQ afterwards for volunteers. BYO favorite snacks or non-allergenic food.

  • Cameras. Even if you are stationary at a stage, the more photos and videos we can take of the competitors and staff, the better. The Operator Syndicate Series events are very photogenic!
